Gulf Correctional Institution Annex is associated with the Florida Department of Corrections state-prison system. A person historically housed at the Annex could later move to the main Gulf Correctional Institution, another FDC prison, or eventually leave state-prison custody. An Annex reference does not establish a present physical location. It may describe an earlier confinement interval, an institutional component, or a record created when the Annex name was in use. 2. Search Inmate Release Information with the same DC number. Read the exact Release Date and custody intervals on a matching released detail.
3. Check Supervised Population Information for the same person. Keep the supervision type and scheduled termination date separate from the prison release date.
4. Request the FDC movement and release records when the public results do not explain the Annex placement, later transfer, or release mechanism.

Searches should be saved with an access date because FDC warns that public status and location can change. The statewide release database excludes people sentenced only to county jail or county probation. If the custody episode was local rather than an FDC commitment, use the Gulf County release search and record path instead.

No separate current Annex telephone was established in the facility research. The physical address remains useful for identifying the historical component, but release and movement questions should be routed through the main Gulf Correctional Institution or FDC central offices. This avoids treating the Annex as an independent active records counter.

About Gulf CI Annex

Official and historical materials place Gulf Correctional Institution Annex at 699 Ike Steele Road in Wewahitchka. It is an FDC component, not the Gulf County Detention Facility operated for the county in Port St. Joe. The distinction determines the record source. A state-prison identity and custody history are tracked under the FDC DC number, while a county-jail booking uses local jail and court records.

Recent directory treatment centers the complex under Gulf Correctional Institution instead of giving the Annex a separate current directory block. Other recent materials have described the Annex as closed. Those facts support careful status language, not a definitive unsourced statement about today's operations. Current status should be confirmed with FDC before giving directions, describing prison functions, or calling the Annex an active point of release.

Gulf CI Annex Status History

Facility-name and date checks are unusually important in Gulf County. Historical FDC and procurement material names Gulf Correctional Institution Annex separately. The Gulf CI audit material and later directory treatment place more emphasis on the main complex, while research sources also describe the Annex as closed. A record can remain valid even when the location label is no longer current.

This local history changes the search method. A document that says Gulf Annex should be treated as a dated location fact. The next question is what the matching DC-number record shows now. Current Population can identify another FDC facility. Release Information can identify a completed or scheduled state release. Central Records can supply movement history when the online detail skips the path between those points.

The same caution applies to Gulf Forestry Camp, another component named in older Gulf CI materials. Neither the Annex nor camp name should be used as a shortcut for current custody. This status-sensitive treatment is more accurate than presenting every historical facility label as a separate active prison.

A conflict may reflect timing, so record when each source was checked and ask the custodian to resolve material differences.

Note: A missing Annex location may reflect later movement, so check all three FDC databases before drawing a release conclusion.

Gulf CI Annex Release Dates

A Current Release Date on a population detail is prospective. Florida's statutory phrase is tentative release date, meaning the projected date after applicable gain time is granted or forfeited. The date can change after corrected credit, new sentence documents, disciplinary action, another commitment, court modification, or lawful gain-time decisions. A person shown as SENTENCED TO LIFE does not have an arithmetic date merely because a search field exists.

After release, FDC's release detail uses the retrospective label Release Date. The two labels should never be blended. A Scheduled Termination Date on the supervision detail is different again because it concerns the planned end of community supervision. When the mechanism matters, the public release detail may not be enough. Request the release record or calculation to distinguish expiration, conditional release, parole, or another lawful route.

Florida Statutes section 944.275 governs FDC gain time and tentative release calculation. For a person subject to the post-October 1995 incentive-gain-time provision, FDC may not grant gain time that causes release before service of 85 percent of the sentence, including qualifying credit for time physically incarcerated. That rule still depends on offense date, eligibility, sentence structure, credits, and forfeitures.

Gulf CI Annex Movement Records

A movement record is often the missing link for an Annex reference. It can show that a person left the Annex component but remained in FDC custody at another institution. A release record addresses a different event: departure from state-prison custody. Both may be needed when an old document names Gulf Annex and a current search no longer does.

When dates appear inconsistent, preserve each field instead of choosing the most convenient one. Request Gulf CI Annex Records

FDC's public-records page is the formal route when public search fields are not enough. Florida Chapter 119 provides access to existing public records subject to exemptions. FDC can review, estimate, redact, and produce an existing record, but it does not have to create a new timeline or answer a research question that no record answers.

1. Identify the person by full name and DC number, then quote the old Gulf CI Annex reference and its date.
2. Ask for the existing admission, movement, release, or sentence-calculation record needed to resolve the question.
3. Provide a narrow date range and request the native electronic format when suitable.
4. If a public field appears wrong, save the URL and access date, name the disputed field, and attach the supporting court order or source.
5. Request an advance estimate and set a cost ceiling rather than assuming a fixed fee.

Gulf CI Annex Post-Release Supervision

A completed prison release does not necessarily end state oversight. Run the DC number through the Supervised Population Information Search. Read the supervision type, status, current location, begin date, and scheduled termination date as separate fields. Probation, parole, conditional release, and community control have different legal sources and should retain their official labels.

Gulf County adult supervision commonly routes through FDC's Panama City Circuit Office, but an individual record may name another location. Check Current Location first. Active Suspense can indicate jail or other custody while monitoring continues; it is not proof of physical freedom in the community.
